Car Seat...NIGHTMARE!

So my sweet baby has outgrown his infant carrier. Sad I know, but hey at least he is healthy and growing...and growing! The kid is a giant, but he is too cute. Today I went to get Cannon a new car seat. What a nightmare. Did you know that there are like a hundred to choose from!?! I did some research on safety ratings, user friendliness, convenience, etc (yes, I am a first time mother) and got some good advice from my neighbor (thanks Jill), but when I actually got to the store it was like everything was spinning. I couldn't believe the options. So I am blogging about this to get advice from all of my mother friends. Most of you have kids and they are older than Cannon, so please give me some advice! HELP! Remember I am married to "Budget Brandon," so don't go recommending the Britax version of anything, because he will quickly deny! I have gotten a few votes for the Evenflo Tiumph (it reclines and everything...that's your Jill). So c'mon girls leave me your comments! Thanks!

Hey Rache, We had to get Aiden & Avery new carseats too. We got them the Cosco brand. They were like $130 each at Babies R Us but we will never have to buy another one cuz they turn into the booster seat too. We love them and so do they. They are so much more comfortable. I just can't wait till they can face forward! Hope this helps! See u Thursday!!

Careful with buying a convertible car seat because some have different height and weight standards rather than just the one year 20 pounds. We had to buy a convertible car seat for Maddie when she grew out of hers and didn't check...we got a cosco one and Maddie didn't meet the requirements for forward facing until a few months ago. We have multiple car seats and I hate shopping for them...good luck!

I like the ones that are rear and foward facing. Because even after Lauren was one she still didn't weigh enough to face foward. Also I ours can later be used as a booster seat. So 3-1...amazing. (joking) Also I like the ones that don't have the bar thing that comes over the child...that seems annoying to me. But just my preference. Also I prefer tan, and nutural colors over dark, because the dark seemed to fade and look dirty...maybe we are just dirty...ha ha. :) Good luck. I spent hours shopping at multiply stores, online and so forth. Tiresome. Oh and double check before buying to make sure not on recall. Sometimes they still are in stores!! Sorry long rambling post! Have fun! Another big step for Cannon!!!

I seriously do a ton of research before buying anything...and I am on the third baby...for sure get one that is both rear and forward facing. I haven't bought one of those car seats since Brooks was 6 months old and he out grew his carrier. I will buy a new one with this baby, so I am interested to see what you buy.

We recently bought Evan a new carseat. I love it! We ordered it from Walmart online, and they sent it to the store for us, so it was free shipping. I believe it's a Cosco Alpha and Omega. Seriously, I"m a big fan. My friend has one and she recommended it--she loves it too. I think you can get them at COSTCO, maybe? Right now we have it facing back, but will switch it to forward this week. Good luck!

I loved to Triumph, however, there is foam under the carseat cover, so when Cannon becomes curious and you hear a crunching sound from the backseat, it is more than likely him tearing the foam apart. I think it was a man that designed this one. I would definitely recommend a convertible seat though, because it will last a ton longer...unless you have to purchase another for a different reason! (But Cannon is a lot older than Gennovah was before we were pregnant again, OOPS!) Good Luck!
