26.2

Well he did it! After months of training and endless hours of running, Mr. Brandon Ball can now cross one more thing off of his "bucket list." The St. George Marathon! What an accomplishment! It is quite a big deal. There over 7000 runners from all over the country that come to participate in this race. It is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, probably one of the largest marathons if not THE largest marathon in the United States. It my friends is 26.2 miles of pure running!

Here is the pre-race meal. We had set our sight on The Olive Garden, but apparently so had everyone else in St. George. When we got there we discovered it was an hour and half wait. With 2 kids in tow, NO THANK YOU! We ended up at Iggy's, I forgot how good it actually is. Here is Balltrain enjoying his Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti Marinara. Delish!

After dinner we headed back to the hotel so Brandon could get some sleep in prep for the big day. Cannon, Grandma Chris, Millie and I headed off to the pool which was delightful!

The 3:30 wake up call came all to early if you ask me. I am pretty sure Brandon was already awake due to the excitement of race day. Here is pre-race photo. Look at him all smiley and tagged!

Here are the kiddo's as Brandon was leaving. So excited for dad to start his big race! Isn't it funny that no matter how big the bed, the kids can somehow manage to consume the ENTIRE thing! Oh one of the joys of parenting! Let's just that this trip did not allow mom a lot of rest and relaxation for a number of reasons. This being one of them.

So what do you do on race day when the big runner is 6 hours out?
You take some pics in the scorching heat of St. George....

....and make some posters to cheer on your runner!

and take some more pics!

Yes, it was a hot beast that day! They said it was the HOTTEST start they have ever had in the history of the marathon. Trust me, it was a scorcher especially come high noon when the clouds were shying away from the sun and the wind was taking a nap! How the runners took the heat I will never know! I am pretty sure I fell ill to some heat stroke just standing there!

A video of Baller and his grand debut at the finish line (don't mind my recording skills)! Priceless! The final time 6 hours and 2 min. Just 2 minutes shy of his goal, which if you count the heat, is not bad, not bad at all my friends!

Here is the grand exit! I am sure that Brandon has never felt more relief exiting a venue than he did at this one!

After a 26 mile run you know you are getting a family photo! After all, I may not have run the marathon, but I definitely contributed to some serious training! I doubt I will ever adorn my running shoes for a 26.2!

Thanks to my mom, G and of course aunt Millie for helping us out and offering some sweet support and company. It meant a lot to Brandon to see you all there as he came around the corner nearing the finish line and trust me I could not have done it with out you there!

WAY TO GO TRAIN! We are so proud of you!
