RUN ON!

You know how you always feel GREAT right after you have a baby and you feel so skinny because you have felt so huge for the last 9 months, then about two months later when you start to get the hang of things you realize you look like the crapper?! Well, I had that moment with miss Brooklyn! She gave me reason to R-U-N!

You all may think I am crazy and I will tell you that MOST days when I drag myself out of bed I hate the decision that I made to get up and go running. But a mere 20 minutes later, about half way into the run, I feel TERRIFIC! I can tell you that I hate running, but I love the feeling after and I love what it does to my body. That is the long explanation as to why I am crazy and run. I have a fabulous group of ladies that I run with in the mornings and they push me to be better and force me to get up. However as much as I love them, you still need something to train for. You need a goal, something to keep you getting up.....thus the HALF MARATHON! After much taunting and disbelief that I would actually do it from an unnamed husband of mine, I signed up and had a goal!

I spent the last 4 months terrified that I wouldn't be prepared. That I couldn't do it. That I would get injured. That I didn't believe in myself enough. That I was crazy. I spent the last 4 months running! And because I ran I achieved my goal. I did it! I ran a half marathon in 2:44 and I truly ran it, I didn't walk it, I ran! That my friends was a huge accomplishment for me and now I am hooked!

Brandon and I decided to make a night of it. We dropped off the kids at various grandparents then headed off to the races! We picked up our race packets, had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, did a little shopping and stayed downtown. We got up at 5 am got the race sight at about 6am and began our 13.1 miles at 7am! We had a great time and it is always nice to have a break from the kids. Thanks to my hubby for making it a fun night!

My cute friend Teressa was there and took this picture for us at the starting line. We saw lots of people from our neighborhood and other friends there. It was fun seeing them all.

Coming out of the race gates! Yes the picture and the ones that the marathon guys take made me realize I HAVE to KEEP running because even after months of training I still have a nice tire around my middle! So HOT!

Love the posters! I love that my mom and Kamille did them. It is so rewarding to see your family at the finish line!

My mom and G were there to greet us with our sweet Brooky. So was the always amazing Jackie Ball!
(Cannon was at soccer with my dad and Diana)
Thank you to all the grandma's and grandpa's that made this race possible for us. We love you!

I can't wait to see if I can do better next time. Get a better time, run a little faster, a little harder and prove to myself that I am stronger than I think. For now I will be happy with the fact that I did my first half ever and I didn't die. ;) Now it is time to gear up for the MOAB relay with my runner girls and a couple of 5K races!
Run on friends, run on!

On a side note, I beat the unnamed, marathon runner husband by about 5 minutes! That deserves a BOOOOOOM!

Way to go I am seriously so proud of you. I have thought about it and always think there is no way but I need something to motivate me. Disney has a princess half in Febuary, that MIGHT give me enough time to be ready!
