ROAD TRIP!

This last weekend my mom and I went to Boise for my cousins baptism. Of course we took Cannon and as usual he provided plenty of entertainment!

Let's start with the ride there! Still undergoing potty training he did SO GOOD!!! He didn't have a single accident the whole way there. We had one emergency where we had to pull off the side of the road and let him pee in the dirt, which he did and the whole time he stood there looking at all the semi's passing saying "MACK. MACK." That must have been a highlight for him because he kept telling everybody he "peed in the dirt and saw Mack."

On to evening number 1! The kid doesn't sleep a wink the whole way there, plays with my cousins for a few hours, then we go back to the hotel and he swims for an hour. HOORAY he will sleep all night and fall asleep FAST! Oh no...HE WANTS MILK! Screaming at the top of his lungs in the middle of the third floor I keep telling him there is no milk and that water will have to do. "No mom I want milk." Good thing grandma was there because I am pretty sure he would have met death. As grandmas do, she headed off to the rescue already sporting her pajama's and sweet pool time hair, the hero returns with milk! OK we are ready for a good nights sleep! C chugs his milk and is knocked out...until 2 AM that is! On comes another scream fest for non other than MILK! This time I lost it, spanked his butt, covered his mouth told him there was NO MILK and if he wanted water that was fine. "I WANT MILK!" My sweet, poor mom awaken by the terrible toddler tries to take him from me before I get turned into Children Family Services and he refuses to go to her, but again she heads off to the rescue for milk. This time we accompany her because I feel like screaming in the hotel lobby is more appropriate than in our room at least at this hour! She begs the front desk for milk from the breakfast bar and the desk clerk feeling sorry for C or us I am not sure, hands it over. Finally the kid gets his milk and it's back to bed! Again grandma SAVED his life! Good thing at this point I am wide awake can't get back to sleep and can feel every single toss and turn my sweet baby is doing in my belly accompanied by the welcoming kicks in the back from her brother who is fast asleep next to me! Not our best moment!

*Side note. My kid LOVES MILK! We go through 4 gallons a WEEK and that is mostly him. B and I drink very little. He doesn't eat much and is so picky that I haven't ever really limited his milk so that he is at least getting some nutrition. It really only becomes a problem when we are away from home and his ding-bat mother is unprepared! But really...who loves milk that much anyway?!

Saturday day goes relatively well. We do some shopping, C is his usual nightmare self at any and every store but again grandma was there to help referee us. He is still doing absolutely amazing at his potty training endeavors so he earns a toy! A brand new Lighting McQueen...the blue DINOCO one. He loves it! Treats it with love and respect which is more than I can say I have gotten from him the past two days, and is so cute with it. We go to lunch he is great there, head to the baptism, can't complain considering I didn't bring his "bag" and he thought we were at church so he should have ample entertainment. Back to the house for dinner where he plays great with the other kids then off the to the hotel for another round of swimming! Bedtime! This time we were prepared with MILK! Out like a light sleeps until morning...glorious night!

Sunday morning we are getting ready and C comes into the bathroom very concerned.
"Mom my car" he says,
"well go get it" I tell him. He had been putting it in the mini fridge all weekend so I didn't think anything of it, and I was in the middle of blow drying my hair.
"No mom my car!"
"Go get it!"
"MOM MY CAR...HELP!"
Finally I give in to go look for it, can't see anywhere then I see the microwave FLAMING! Something inside of it was on fire! I open it up blow out the flame and see it is McQueen, he had spun into a fiery death! There is smoke everywhere and as I take a towel to fan away the smoke I notice black ash all over my shirt. I hurry and cover the smoke detector and we open a window turn on the fan and hope for the BEST! All I can think is how my $60 hotel room is going to cost me $15,000 for water damage and a new microwave! PLEASE, PLEASE don't let the alarm or sprinklers go off! Luckily they don't! My aunt comes over from across the hall wondering what we just lit on fire because she could smell it! I am certain hotel security will arrive any minute! Luckily they never do and with the magical talents of my mother and a little bit of eye makeup remover she is able to get all the black out of the microwave! We leave the window open, the fan on and head down to breakfast. When we return the smell is mostly gone so we spray a little perfume, shut the window leave the fan on and head back to the safe zone of Liberation Drive! Luckily he redeemed himself on the way home, he slept most of it and watched a couple of movies, continued his potty training success and we arrived home safe and sound and in Cannon's case alive! Which I souly credit his grandma for.

We brought home McQueen to show B and gave him a proper burial by throwing him away...Cannon is terrified of the charcoal ed McQueen and said he hurt McQueen and made him cry. He kept telling his dad we had to put McQueen in the garbage because he cooked it in the hot hot! I guess he learned his lesson. :)

And that my friends is what a road trip with Cannon is like! Glad to be home!

*BTW Thanks for a good, fun weekend Ellen, we really did enjoy ourselves! C always provides a little something something no matter where we go!

Your poor little girl is going to learn a thing or two from her older brother! :) Love the "woody" story too. Still haven't seen your mom and it would be great to see you too. WE have been super busy but glad we are in the same state. Oh and PS- if you do bring C over, our microwave is too high for him to reach! :)

That is so funny!! You have got your hands full and you are going to have to tell me what you are doing to get that kid potty trained! My two are being the biggest stinks about it!!

Sounds like something Addi would do, we really need to keep those two apart or they would burn a house down. Or cover it in flour, pancake mix, desitin, whatever else they choose.

I love the Woody story, classic!

Wow- totally funny (after the fact)! I too, can see this same thing happening with my Lightning McQueen-obsessed son! I can only imagine the panic that overcame you as it all took place in a hotel room!!!! Thank goodness it all turned out alright!

So funny. About 18 months ago, Annika put her cabbage patch doll in the microwave because she wanted to cuddle a warm doll. Needless to say, the dolls face looked worse about the microwave, but luckily no flames or smoke.
